WATER TANK CLEANING
AND TANK INSTALLATIONS

The CSIRO recommends to have your tank cleaned every 2-3 years by a qualified contractor. There are also signs that the tank might need cleaning earlier than this due to external factors:
- Water with a bad odour
- Water that is murky or dark in colour
- Filters blocking
- Slow water pressure
- The inside of the tank looks dirty
Even the best maintained water tanks need to be cleaned. Your tank can contain things that can become harmful such as E. Coli, if not treated correctly, this can become a health concern.
Tannins in the water can be created from leaves in gutters, which will also result in silt being washed into the tank. Tannin water is normally a sign that other things have also washed into your tank that should be removed.
Other equipment can be damaged by using dirty water such as pumps, piping, washing machines and filters.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Do you need the tank to be empty / how much water needs to be in the tank / does it need to be full?
A full tank is great, we can’t clean an empty tank as we need at least half a metre of water in there at the time of the clean.

2. How do you clean a tank?
We use a vacuum type of tool that sucks any sediment/dirt from the bottom. However, if the water is contaminated (leaves, dead animal etc), the tank may need to be emptied out and refilled with a new load of water. You will generally lose approximately 30cm worth of water during a clean and this is just pumped out onto the grass.

3. Do you sanitise/treat or filter the water during a clean?
We can use a tank safe product that will kill any bacteria in the water if requested, however we do not filter the water.

4. Do you service our area?
We service the Lockyer Valley, and can also travel to Toowoomba, Esk and Ipswich areas. We can travel further to clean your tank,
however, we charge a higher rate.

5. How often do I need my water tank cleaned?
The CSIRO advises to clean sediment out of a tank every two to three years by a qualified contractor.

6. What happens when you don’t clean your water tank?
If a water tank is left uncleaned, algae and bacteria could start to line the interior, sediment will then start to build up in the
bottom of the tank.

7. How long does a tank clean take?
Usually it takes around an hour for us to clean a tank, it can just depend on how dirty it is.

8. Do you need to be able to get a truck in for access to my tank?
No, for our tank cleans we have a ute and a trailer.

9. Can you demolish water tanks and supply new ones?
Yes!

10. Do you do repairs on concrete tanks?
We can, however we have found over the years that it is generally just a bandaid fix and the leak will eventually open back up. So we normally recommend demolishing the existing tank and getting a brand new poly tank.

11. Do you offer a discounted price if I have more than one tank cleaned?
Usually 1 or 2 tanks is the same price. However, if you have 3 and upwards cleaned, we definitely offer a discount for this. It depends on location and how many tanks, so please contact us for a quote!
